Rochester Public Music brings people together through concerts, cultural programs, and music education. Our events are free and public by design.

We turn parks into concert venues, bring artists into classrooms, and share music across neighborhoods. Our work is rooted in shared experience, local connection, and the belief that music belongs to everyone.

Rochester Public Music is a department of the City of Rochester.

Our Programs

  • FORWARD Park Concerts: Free summer concerts in Rochester parks. Local bands, local food, and space for everyone to gather.
  • Riverside Music Series: Live music. Big names. No tickets. Large-scale concerts featuring chart-topping acts and rising stars.
  • Sound School: In-school residencies where students explore rhythm, movement, and musical identity — from hip hop and taiko drumming to close-harmony singing.
  • Passport Sessions: Free outdoor concerts during Thursdays Downtown, celebrating culture and connection through sound.

In honor and celebration of Black History Month, Rochester Civic Music's virtual music show "Live from Med City" returns for a special series of streamed performances from four Minnesota based artists, including encore episodes from Siama Matuzungidi, Lady Midnight, and Jae Havoc, leading up to an all new episode from Rochester's own Annie Mack.

About Annie Mack: “After a bunch of years laboring away in the local blues scene, Annie began to branch out and broaden her sound. She was at the convergence of talent, experience and an R&B/neo-soul resurgence. She’s a talented woman who is finally getting her due. Mack is the classic diva. About "Live from Med City": Rochester Civic Music, the City of Rochester's music department, presents "Live from Med City", the online video digest for all things arts and entertainment in Rochester, MN. The "Live from Med City" concept was conceived with the objective of spotlighting the many “live arts experiences” Rochester has to offer, featuring artists from around the block and from all over the world, and filmed in some of its finest and most unique venues.
