Rochester Public Music brings people together through concerts, cultural programs, and music education. Our events are free and public by design.

We turn parks into concert venues, bring artists into classrooms, and share music across neighborhoods. Our work is rooted in shared experience, local connection, and the belief that music belongs to everyone.

Music with Purpose.

Rochester Public Music is a department of the City of Rochester.

Our Programs

  • FORWARD Park Concerts: Free summer concerts in Rochester parks. Local bands, local food, and space for everyone to gather.
  • Riverside Music Series: Live music. Big names. No tickets. Large-scale concerts featuring chart-topping acts and rising stars.
  • Sound School: In-school residencies where students explore rhythm, movement, and musical identity — from hip hop and taiko drumming to close-harmony singing.
  • Passport Sessions: Free outdoor concerts during Thursdays Downtown, celebrating culture and connection through sound.

FREE CONCERT-PREVIEW LIBRARY TOUR:
 The Nordic Fiddlers Bloc will also embark on a 5-city Southeastern Minnesota library tour featuring a 60 minute preview of their full-length concert. These mini-concerts are free and open to the general public. Attend the preview and receive a coupon for 10% off your ticket order for the full-length performance at the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester. Part of Riverside Concerts' Cultural Exchange Network which provides live musical events for citizens of rural communities who might not otherwise have access to such opportunities. This activity is made possible in part by a grant provided by the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council, through an appropriation by the Minnesota State Legislature and a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. Brought to you by Arts Midwest, the Mayo Clinic, the Friends of Riverside Concerts, and Greater Rochester Arts and Cultural Trust.
