Rochester Public Music brings people together through concerts, cultural programs, and music education. Our events are free and public by design.

We turn parks into concert venues, bring artists into classrooms, and share music across neighborhoods. Our work is rooted in shared experience, local connection, and the belief that music belongs to everyone.

Music with Purpose.

Rochester Public Music is a department of the City of Rochester.

Our Programs

  • FORWARD Park Concerts: Free summer concerts in Rochester parks. Local bands, local food, and space for everyone to gather.

  • Sound School: In-school residencies where students explore rhythm, movement, and musical identity — from hip hop and taiko drumming to close-harmony singing.

7PM: Rob Meany & Terramara
Rob Meany is a singer-songwriter, keyboardist best known as the leader of jazz-rock quartet, Terramara. Born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota, Rob was drawn to a wide range of music at an early age while studying classical piano and listening to Miles Davis, Stevie Wonder and The Beatles.  He continued his studies at college, playing french horn, singing in choir, and playing in jazz band. It wasn’t until a few years later that Rob would find his muse as a songwriter and singer.  After short stints as a sideman in various groups, he formed Terramara as a vehicle for his jazz-funk, piano-driven songs.  Over the past fifteen years, Terramara has released three full-length albums, garnering a loyal following among smart-pop and jazz-rock lovers around the world.

DJ Abilities
Billy Freekin Dee. In the beginning… there were turntables on a hardwood floor. DJ’ing for the first six months was done on the ground with a case of beer. Eventually he got a table and an MPC. Since then he has released 2 mixtapes, produced 4 full length albums, won 2 DMC’s and played hundreds of shows. He is now combining all of these experiences together to create one performance that you can dance to or sit back and enjoy. For more on Dj Abilities please see Rhymesayers
