THURSDAYS ON FIRST & THIRD - WK #11

PEACE PLAZA STAGE:
5PM:
Robert Coates
7PM: Ameranouche

The award winning Ameranouche (pronounced uh-Mare-uh-noosh) plays a passionate style of music they call “Gypsy Flamenco Swing.”  They are veterans of the Newport Jazz Festival, Djangofest Northwest, Muzikfest Bethlehem, PA and the National Press Club.  The name is derived from two words: American and Manouche, the gypsy tribe of guitarist Django Reinhardt.  The rip-roaring ensemble is a super force of hot acoustic Gypsy inspired music mixing Flamenco, Bebop and Jazz swing influences. Played on traditional French jazz guitars, the music is rhythmic, vigorous, and elegant.  Whether they’re playing a musette waltz from 1930 or an Andalusian inspired original tune, Ameranouche’s Gypsy Flamenco Swing style is a fresh and highly enjoyable new sound for the 21st century. Gypsy Flamenco Swing is about coming together and celebrating our shared humanity.  Ameranouche is committed to connecting deeply with its audience and sharing joy and peace through its live shows and recorded albums.

1ST AVE. STAGE:
5PM: The Rutabaga Brothers
7PM:
Reina del Cid

Part singer songwriter group, part rock band you can find REINA DEL CID and company at the intersection of lyrical storytelling, catchy riffs, and scorching solos. After building a devoted online following as a solo artist, Del Cid teamed up with talented musicians Toni Lindgren, Zach Schmidt, and Andrew Foreman to develop a sophisticated sound with broad appeal, drawing in mixed crowds from jamheads to college students to white haired intelligentsia. Reina del Cid and her band cut their teeth in 2013 with a weekly residency at the Amsterdam Bar and Hall in downtown St. Paul, which they held for nearly two years before moving on to tour nationally and release their 2015 album, The Cooling. In January, Del Cid released a music video for the song “Death Cap,” filmed in Iceland and directed by the band’s longtime creative collaborator, Jason Ho. Their music has recently been featured by Paste Magazine, NPR, and Baeble Music, and they plan to release their next full-length record in 2017.
