Rochester Public Music brings people together through concerts, cultural programs, and music education. Our events are free and public by design.

We turn parks into concert venues, bring artists into classrooms, and share music across neighborhoods. Our work is rooted in shared experience, local connection, and the belief that music belongs to everyone.

Music with Purpose.

Rochester Public Music is a department of the City of Rochester.

Our Programs

  • FORWARD Park Concerts: Free summer concerts in Rochester parks. Local bands, local food, and space for everyone to gather.
  • Riverside Music Series: Live music. Big names. No tickets. Large-scale concerts featuring chart-topping acts and rising stars.
  • Sound School: In-school residencies where students explore rhythm, movement, and musical identity — from hip hop and taiko drumming to close-harmony singing.
  • Passport Sessions: Free outdoor concerts during Thursdays Downtown, celebrating culture and connection through sound.

On Sunday, July 9 (Week #1) at 7PM in Mayo ParkSPIN DOCTORS comes to #rochmn to perform at Think Mutual Bank's Down by the Riverside Free Concert Series! Media Sponsor: MN 97.5 Greatest Hits

Multi-Grammy nominee the Spin Doctors, with their unique blend of pop, funk and progressive rock, owned the radio and MTV airways in the early '90s with hits like "Two Princes", "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong", and "Jimmy Olsen's Blues" from their five-time platinum break through album, Pocket Full of Kryptonite.

You think you know the Spin Doctors? Think again. When the legendary New York quartet released If The River Was Whiskey on Ruf Records in 2014, casual fans discovered the secret past the hardcore have never forgotten.

To the wider world, the Doctors might be the multi-million-selling icons behind hits like "Two Princes" and “Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong,” not to mention the classic “Jimmy Olsen's Blues”. But in 2014, Chris Barron (vocals), Aaron Comess (drums), Eric Schenkman (guitar) and Mark White (bass) are reconnecting with the flat-broke twenty-somethings who scraped for dollars at the sharp end of the Big Apple blues circuit. The Spin Doctors have come full-circle.

The Morning Kings (TMK) are a band from Minnesota and was established in 2010. The Morning Kings are known throughout the region for having a layered, energetic full band sound with influences of funk, rock, and organized jam. TMK pushes the envelope to create and innovate music that can get a crowd moving while invoking a true connection to the music. In 2012 TMK did a self release 5 song EP called Sunrise and toured the past two years throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin. Currently the band is in the studio working on their 2nd EP and will have a tour to follow!
