Wetland Wildlife Primer

Stormwater Speaker Series

All species of wetland wildlife depend on wetland habitat for survival. Given the energy demands of movement, reproduction, and just plain trying to survive, adequate food resources are critical. Providing those food resources across species and seasons requires a complex of wetland habitats. Unfortunately, wetlands losses, particularly temporary and seasonal wetlands, have severely challenged our abilities to provide this habitat. The deteriorating quality of remaining wetlands has compounded the problem. While protection and restoration are critical, active management is increasingly important to provide quality wetland habitat.
