The City of Rochester is pleased to announce and invite the community to gather for the inauguration of Mayor-Elect Kim Norton, Councilmember Nick Campion, Councilmember-Elect Patrick Keane, and Councilmember-Elect Shaun C. Palmer.  The inauguration will take place from 12:00-1:00PM on January 7, 2019 at the Mayo Civic Center (30 Civic Center Dr. SE, Rochester, MN 55904).

This event marks the first time in recent City history a formal inauguration will take place other than swearing in elected officials at their first official meeting. This is being done to allow an opportunity for the community as a whole to be engaged and participate in the celebration of our new City leaders. In addition to the oaths of office, the gathering will feature musical performances and readings by community members.

Steve Rymer, City Administrator states, “We invite all community members to join us for this important and exciting gathering.  It is an opportunity to come together as a community, celebrate another point in Rochester history, and participate in an important part of our democratic process.”

As a community celebration, there is a commitment to ensuring this event is accessible to the community as a whole. An American Sign Language interpreter will be providing signing services, a central location accessible by public transit was chosen, and the event is planned at noon to allow for attendees to come over a lunch break. The event will also be streamed live via the City of Rochester website and rebroadcast on Channel 180.
