“We are Water MN” is led by the Minnesota Humanities Center in partnership with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, the Minnesota Historical Society, the Minnesota Department of Health, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, and the Minnesota Department of Agriculture. We are Water MN is funded in part by the National Endowment for the Humanities and with money from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund that was created with the vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008.

The City of Rochester and its initial local partners are seeking more partners to be a part of this effort as we explore how the greater Rochester area relates to water.  Any community organization, business, and individuals that are interested in learning about this partnership opportunity are invited to attend an informational session on Thursday November 7th, 2019.  Registration is available at www.rochesterstormwater.com through Eventbrite.  Two sessions are being offered with goal of accommodating schedules 2PM at City Hall and 6:30PM at Cascade Meadow Wetlands and Environmental Science Center.  Those that are unable to attend the November 7th informational sessions should contact Stephanie Hatzenbihler at 328-2440 or stormwater@rochestermn.gov. 

“We Are Water MN” reveals the central nature of water in our lives by exploring how we relate to water—how we use water, how water unites communities, how water affects every element of life, and how we care for our water and protect water for the future. Visitors reflect on local stories and the meaning and experiences of water in Minnesota with space to add their own stories. By creating relationships around water, we are creating networks that can promote positive social norms, and share a vision for, and participate in, water stewardship.

The Stormwater Presents Speaker Series is a quarterly program featuring topics related to stormwater management in the City of Rochester. This program is FREE of charge and no registration is needed. All presentations are held in Rochester at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota - Cascade Meadow (2900 - 19th Street NW).
