The public is invited to join teammates from the City of Rochester Public Works Department for the Elton Hills Drive Safety Improvements Open House. This public open house will be an opportunity for community members to review the results of the recently completed traffic study, ask questions and provide feedback on a variety of options for safety improvements in the corridor.
Elton Hills Drive Safety Improvements Open House
Date: Monday, December 9, 2019
Time: 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. Open house style with no formal presentation. Community members can come anytime between 4:30-7:00 p.m.
Location: Hoover Elementary School at 369 Elton Hills Drive NW, Rochester, MN 55901
Community members that are unable to attend the open house in person are encouraged to share their thoughts via Polco at www.polco.us/Rochestermn. Questions about Elton Hills Drive will be posted to Polco on or before Monday, December 2, 2019.
Project Background
A Council Initiated Action (CIA) regarding Elton Hills Drive was submitted by Council Members Johnson and Palmer on May 20, 2019. The CIA outlined the request for Public Works to, in summary, implement previously recommended safety improvements and turning restrictions on Elton Hills Drive NW. As part of that process, the Public Works Department identified the need to perform a traffic study for Elton Hills Drive to help determine the street space, use, and lane configuration of the corridor.
Project Next Steps
Teammates from the Public Works Department will share the results of the traffic and safety study and public feedback at the City Council Study Session on December 16, 2019. City Council will be asked to give further direction on the project at that time.
