DESCRIPTION:<p>January 2, 2025 – ROCHESTER, MINN. – The Public Works Department is seeking feedback from residents living near 18th Avenue SW on the upcoming corridor reconstruction project. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the project, provide insights on the existing conditions and share feedback on the proposed design. This is the second open house on this project.&nbsp;<br><br><strong>18th Avenue SW Reconstruction Project Open House #2</strong><br>Wednesday, January 15 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.<br>Olmsted County Public Works Service Center<br>1188 50th Street SE, Rochester, MN 55904<br>This event has an open-house format with no set presentation.<br><br>Individuals unable to attend the open house are encouraged to visit the <a href="https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/4f96a67ef85647dda91db2bcc66d000f" target="_blank">project webpage</a> to learn more and share feedback through the online comment map, available from January 15 to February 2.<br><br>Due to the aging and deteriorating pavement, 18th Avenue SW from Mayowood Road SW to 40th Street SW is slated for reconstruction in 2026 and 2027 in both the State Transportation Improvement Plan and the City’s Capital Improvement Plan. Recognizing the evolving needs of the community, the City is using this scheduled reconstruction as an opportunity to look at additional improvements that will accommodate community needs for the next 50 years. The following improvements are being evaluated:</p><ul>    <li>Adding curb and gutter and boulevards along the roadway</li>    <li>Adding pedestrian and bicycle facilities, including trail connections</li>    <li>Adding storm sewer and stormwater management facilities to improve drainage and provide water quality treatment.</li>    <li>Extending the sanitary sewer system to serve a larger area</li>    <li>Improving the safety and functionality of transit stops, pedestrian crossings and intersections&nbsp;</li></ul><p>More information about the project is found on the <a href="https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/4f96a67ef85647dda91db2bcc66d000f" target="_blank">18th Avenue SW Reconstruction Project website</a>.&nbsp;</p><div></div>
