SUMMARY:Transit Technology Workshop
DESCRIPTION:
There are a wide variety of transportation technologies available to support implementation of the Destination Medical Center plan. The purpose of the Transit Technology Workshop is to provide local project staff with an overview of the technologies that are being considered for downtown Rochester. Leading experts will describe the technology options with respect to physical and operational characteristics such as vehicle size, speed, frequency, construction costs, and operating costs. They will also identify station requirements such as platforms, shelters, and ticketing. Any requirements for an exclusive guideway such as a dedicated lane or elevated trackway will also be discussed. Some of the vendors may present brief educational videos of the technology they represent. This information will be collected and reviewed by the project team to evaluate the technology options and determine which are worthy of more detailed consideration in Rochester.

Invitations to this event have been sent to City Council members, County Board members, City Planning and Zoning Commission, Energy Commission, EDA Board members, and DMCC Board members. A quorum of the Common Council, City Planning & Zoning Commission, and Energy Commission may be present but no official actions will be taken.

The Transit Technology Workshop will be streaming live at: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/destination-medical-center

A recording of the Transit Technology Workshop will be available at: http://www.rochestermn.gov/departments/public-works/integrated-transit-studies
