November 6, 2020 - ROCHESTER, MINN. – The City of Rochester Water Reclamation Plant received a Gold Level Peak Performance Award from the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA). This annual award recognizes excellence in operational performance and permit compliance. The Rochester Water Reclamation Plant has received this award every year since 1999.

Adam Krantz, Chief Executive Officer of NACWA, congratulates the Rochester Water Reclamation Plant and other honorees, noting: “Our public utility members are the backbone of the communities they serve, providing safe, reliable access to clean water services day-in and day-out. The Peak Performance Award ceremony is our chance to shine a national spotlight on those outstanding clean water utilities that have demonstrated operational excellence with no more than five permit violations in a calendar year, and, for our Gold and Platinum Award winners, zero violations.

“I am proud of the Water Reclamation Plant team and thank them for their service and hard work in protecting the City of Rochester’s water resources,” shares Wendy Turri, City of Rochester Director of Public Works.

The Rochester Water Reclamation Plant treats on average of 13 million gallons of wastewater per day, including the entirety of the wastewater generated in the City of Rochester. Crews work 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to ensure wastewater is conveyed from Rochester homes and business to connections in the street to the Water Reclamation Plant where the wastewater is treated. Clean, reclaimed water is then discharged to the Zumbro River. Efficient operations of the collection system and treatment plant help make Rochester a leading service provider.

• Silver Awards recognize to facilities with no more than five violations per calendar year.
